Pregnancy Testing

If you think you may be unexpectedly pregnant, it can be a lot to process. You might be feeling scared, confused, or simply overwhelmed. At Alpha Center in Fort Collins, we know how important it is to have results you can trust. We offer free and confidential pregnancy testing to any woman who thinks she may be facing an unplanned pregnancy.

I took a pregnancy test at home. Why should I be tested at Alpha Center?

Home pregnancy tests continue to improve in their accuracy as technology advances, but several variables may affect your results. For a test to give you an accurate result, it must be taken correctly and at the right time. Tests that are administered incorrectly have a much higher likelihood of providing a false result. At Alpha Center, our lab-quality pregnancy tests are administered by our nurses.

Our nurses can also help you know if it is the right time to take a test. Based on your estimated conception date and other information, our nurses can advise you on the best time to take a pregnancy test to get the most accurate reading. If taken too early, your hCG levels will not be high enough to be detected.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

When you come in for an appointment at Alpha Center, you will first meet with an intake specialist. Your intake specialist will perform a preliminary assessment and provide education on each of your options for your pregnancy. After that, one of our nurses will administer the lab-quality pregnancy test. Once your results are in, your nurse will meet with you to go over them. If indicated, a nurse will then perform an ultrasound.

All pregnancy appointments last for about an hour.
